Becoming Your Kitty Cat by NaPaTa

My fellow hentai loving brethren! Conan and I are proud to present to you another vanilla masterpiece by the great artist NaPaTa! Clocking in at around 16 pages, this is one of her shorter works, but the amount of love and “Hng” inducing moments are just as pronounced on each and every page. Here, we have a girl who’s a bit obsessed with her lover’s kitty cat and she really wants to play with it. However, the cat is very unfriendly towards her. So what does she do to win it over? She has sex with her boyfriend in hopes that his scent on her will make the cat more loving towards her. Special thanks goes out to Conan for his excellent editing and ZakiZaki Sakura her input throughout the scanlating process!

Alrighty! This makes a total of 7 NaPaTa one-shots under my belt! I must admit that this latest chapter was one of my more difficult translations. As some of you know, my style of translating stems more from trying to replicate the mood and emotions of the text rather than trying to be literal with the words. When I first read this chapter for my own personal pleasure , I was really drawn into the romantic playfulness of the protagonists. Therefore, when I set out to produce a translation, I wanted to mimic that style of dialogue, one that is cute and full of endearment.

However, one quality of the Japanese language that I frequently have trouble converting to English is how they’re very good at expressing a lot of emotion with very little words. How my one Japanese friend puts it, there’s a communal sense or understanding through the dialogue that enables them to speak little, yet say a lot. An example would be how we would turn down an invitation. For us “westerners,” we typically spell out the reason why we can’t hang out with our buddies. “Hey man, I’d love to, but I gotta get this done.” The Japanese, on the other hand, would simply say, “Hey man, I’d love to, but…” The other person they’re talking to would understand and not press the issue.

From what she tells me, being very direct when you’re speaking especially to someone close to you is considered very rude. That’s why you often see people sort of trailing off in their dialogue. They’re expecting you to know what’s to come or to know the reason behind what they’re saying. That’s where the misconception that Japanese is a vague language comes in. Based on my exposure to the language, playful dialogue between lovers are usually short and very to the point. There’s like an intimate connection between the two people that enables them to understand each other.

That’s all fine and dandy for our Japanese counterparts, but for us English speakers, it doesn’t sound very romantic if I were to do things literally. As a result, I had to embellish some of the dialogue to achieve this goal without going too overboard. In fact, I had to enlist the help of my friend ZakiZaki Sakura for her female input to make the dialogue smoother and a bit more playful than what I can pull on my own. I hope my efforts are to everyone’s liking.

Another reason why I enjoy working on NaPaTa’s stuff and I hope to continue to provide quality translations of her work to the community. Yes, I’m aware that Team Vanilla and Team Trinity also produced their version way ahead of us. Regardless, I still hope you guys will enjoy our rendition of this chapter.

  1. Thanks for the release everyone; BTW there’s twice the same typo, “suppose” instead of “supposed” at pages 5 and 6 (oddly at page 4 it’s correct)…

    • I suck at this . I talked to Conan and we’ve elected to wait for the tank to correct any and all mistakes found. Thank you for your keen observation and please continue to point them out.

      But still… I suck…
